And who'd bet against New York singer-songwriter Elana Belle Carroll being the woman to rise to the top? Elana's second tune under her Party Nails alias, 'No Pressure', dropped this week and sure enough it's brimming with all the notes we'd expect from an '80s synthpop star zapped into 2015. Glossy, candy-floss sweet vocals, bubbling synth hooks, delicately funked-up guitars and glitterburst drums are all ticked off the list in a big way, putting Party Nails right in the mix for next year's essential pre-lash (that's drinks before the night out begins, obviously) anthems. - DC
